430,000 students now have access to Zipcar and Zimride
Zipcar has long targeted the college crowd with their car sharing options. Now, thanks to an expanded partnership with Zimride , an online carpool app , an estimated 430,000 students at 15 universities can access the application. The two companies announced the deal at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today and the new schools are UC Irvine, UC Berkeley, University of San Francisco, University of Maryland and George Mason University. With Zipcar, you can rent a car by the hour so you’re only paying for a vehicle when you actually need one. Zimride lets you find people to carpool with. Put the two together, and you’ve got instant friends for a road trip to that concert three hours away. Zipcar thinks car sharing is a good thing for college students to get used to, since it can “set a precedent for a car-free lifestyle during and post college years.” More details after the jump.
